Argentine Ambassador in Doha: Qatar has taken early and advanced measures to confront Corona

By Ahmed Al-Bayoumi

Qatar and Argentina are strategic partners in various fields

The people of Qatar are in safe hands thanks to the attention and health care

We thank Qatar Airways for the return of hundreds of stranded Argentines

His Excellency Mr. Carlos Hernandez, Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the country, appreciated the depth of relations between Qatar and Argentina in various fields. He said in statements to Al-Sharq that since a long time, Argentina and Qatar have established a strong bilateral relationship, with a large number of bilateral agreements, some of which were signed and some are in the negotiation stage and others are ready for signature, which in turn led to an increase in trade and cultural relations, stressing that both countries are strategic partners.

Ambassador Hernandez explained that the world is going through a tragic, unprecedented and unpredictable situation. This international situation has caused many deaths, many patients and economic stagnation in almost all countries, in addition to a significant increase in the unemployment rate, and the spread of poverty and hunger.

He cautioned that everyone should realize that the current situation in the world will negatively affect international trade. He stressed that despite this situation, Qatar and Argentina will continue to work and redouble efforts so that we can transform this difficult period into a stronger and more dynamic bilateral relationship.

The Ambassador of Argentina commended the measures taken by Qatar to combat the Corona epidemic, saying: "I saw in Qatar that health authorities are very well organized and have worked very early, in order to prepare its hospitals, equip medical personnel, beds and equipment and perform a sufficient number of tests in record time." That is why the people of the State of Qatar, including diplomats, know that we are in safe hands and feel care and concern, and in order to help the health authorities, in our case we work remotely from home and we only go out if necessary. "

He also praised the performance of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, stressing the swift and efficient work of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

He added, "We must also point out that we in Qatar do not face these difficult situations that we have seen in developed countries, where we have seen long lines in supermarkets and lack of products. And this did not happen here in Qatar, and that was not by chance, but the result of good planning. "

Ambassador Hernandez extended his heartfelt thanks to Qatar Airways, headed by Mr. Akbar Al Baker, for the unlimited cooperation he provided to help the return of hundreds of Argentines stranded in Europe, South Asia and Australia, who were able to return through Qatar Airways via Doha.

He pointed out that we still have thousands of Argentine tourists abroad, and we are convinced that once our borders are reopened, we will work together again.

During that time, we will redouble our efforts to defeat the virus, build the world, and have stronger and more solid bilateral relations between Argentina and Qatar that make both of us proud.

He added that the new Corona virus had also reached Argentina, which is located geographically at the end of the world map. The number of HIV cases is increasing daily in our country, but like the State of Qatar, our government is working with all its efforts to reduce the negative effects and, above all, to save many lives.

The virus recently arrived in Argentina, so we were able to follow the reaction of China and European countries, which gave us enough time to learn how to deal with the situation as much as possible and were not surprised by it.

He hinted that the virus’s arrival in Latin American countries was mainly due to the return of travelers from Europe. In the case of Argentina, our country has deep-rooted relations with European countries and our citizens visit it permanently.

The virus spread and became an infection in society, among Argentines. We were also forced to close our borders, with the exception of the introduction of a few cases and under very close monitoring of Argentine citizens stranded abroad.
