Last June 3rd, 2018, and agreement between Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil was signed, concerning two affiliates in Argentina that hold licenses for seven blocks in Vaca Muerta unconventional oil and gas field, located in the province of Neuquén.
According to the agreement, Qatar Petroleum will have a 30% shareholding in the ExxonMobil affiliated in Argentina. The agreement is highly relevant both at the level of the bilateral relationship and in the investment process in Vaca Muerta. Besides, for Qatar Petroleum, it represents the first investment in Argentina and the first significant investment in unconventional oil and gas resources. It is a long term investment, which reinforces the commitment to develop oil and gas production in Argentina.
