On August 6, 2018, the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to the State of Qatar, Carlos Hernández, held a meeting with the CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar al Baker. The agreement between the airline and Boca Juniors club for sponsoring the sports clothing of the Argentine club until the season 2022-2023 was discussed.

In addition, the possibility of establishing a direct flight between both countries was analyzed. Ambassador Hernández highlighted that the bilateral ties between Argentina and Qatar are solid and are being strengthened in various fields.
