In an interview with the local newspaper Qatar Tribune, the Ambassador of Argentina to the State of Qatar, Rossana Surballe, indicated her satisfaction with the improvement of the bilateral relations between both countries since 2013. Ambassador Surballe, who was tasked with opening the Embassy of Argentina in Qatar, is concluding her duties after 5 years.
She also made reference to the different agreements signed between both countries in recent years, which helped strengthening the bilateral links. She highlighted, among the most important, the agreement in order to avoid double taxation, the treaty for the promotion and protection of reciprocal investments, the cooperation agreement between the diplomatic institutes of both countries, as well as the agreement in order to establish a mechanism of political consultations between both Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Surballe also mentioned the ongoing negotiations for a cooperation agreement on agriculture. He added that given the Argentine experience in this area, it is an important field for future cooperation, taking into account the development process of the agricultural sector that Qatar is carrying out.
